Training and Skills Transfer
It is no longer enough for staff to know that discrimination is unlawful
or where the assessable toilet is. They must be aware of the needs of a range of people with
different disabilities, and the language and etiquette required to communicate with them
effectively.
Disability Awareness Training
The ingredient that separates good practice from poor
Our Disability Awareness Training sessions are tailored to your business
needs and attendees. Relating to the provision of services to, and employment of, disabled
people either at a practical, tactical or strategic level as appropriate.
We offer training for managers and customer facing staff, together with
a Train the Trainer module. We also provide Presentations to senior managers and boards of
directors.
We focus on communicating relevant facts and provide staff with the tool
they need, enabling staff to be at their ease when dealing with disabled guests. Exploring
with attendees what you really do need to do in your business, together with what you don't
need to do, including when you can and should say No!
Once key staff are trained the information can be disseminated to other
staff as appropriate, including it in your induction and refresher training, making a very
economic 'one off cost'. This can be augmented by use of our Training Resource Pack
providing the necessary materials.
You could also consider our auditable 'welcoming disabled guests'
CD-ROM based disability awareness training programme aimed at staff at all levels within
hospitality businesses.
